I spend my years growing older
- as you do
while things change and evolve
and I do too
I lose count of all the people
passing through
and I need not fear stagnation

They congratulate me but what can I say
that I had hoped for more
- my vanity
disregarding those who stop and stay
when I want to grasp each opportunity
and will this one day leave me
utterly lonely?

The superficial tendencies
interaction explicitly serving
personal furthering
I hope we can lower our guard
and see that we’re all struggling
wanting that emptiness to leave us be
starting with me.
