It’s just me and the garden bats
and a long-distance goodnight kiss
a red wine in solitude type of night
but it’s all good this time
only that I miss you
that the idea of your caress
makes my body lean southwards
to be nearer to where you are

what are you at
on this warm summer’s night?
at opposite ends of the world it feels like
I spend time staring into the candlelight
deep red is the incidental colour
a red wine, red paint, Red House Painters
type of night
But it’s all good this time.
