The Queen's Jester
Once the king was utterly tricked
He sent over the realm an edict
To get the thieving bastard licked
The jester must pay with his life
For causing an infernal strife
Stealing the crown and queenwife
With the queen gagged and bound
The jester's speeding all around
Trying to get to safer ground
But the royal knights are on his tail
Spreading posters with hammer and nail
Chasing day and night without fail
They run through streets and alleys
Over the hills and into valleys
Even deploying ships and galleys
Fruitlessly searching every nook and cranny
Even at the jester's poor old granny
Their feverish endeavour most uncanny
And the sad old king can't unwind
While the bastard's free that robbed him blind
He craves to do the same in kind
Even into his old age
He never lessened his rage
Until his heart gave out on stage
But what he never figured out
Was that the queen was behind the rout
Fleeing with the first likely lout
Tired of the gilded fences
Masquerading as defences
She finally had come to senses
And just as I or thee
She only ached to be
Totally free
