Today July 1 is Uffe Larsson's birthday. He is missed. Written on my hilltop in Råsunda September 29, 2009

Some Words About Uffe Larsson

Ulf Larsson was a very talented man and a very personable one. I spent
many hours in his company, speaking English, telling stories and really laughing out loud. He forged a personal relationship with me and was very supportive in getting me work at SVT. ( And it was Uffe who recommended me to Anders Lundin and Kattis Ahlström to be their Coach in English Language when they were to lead the Eurovision Songcontest in 2000) In the hours that I spent with Uffe he told me much about his life, his work, Swedish Comedy, his loves, his family, about his triumphs and yes about some of his disappointments too. He was also one of the people who helped to kick start my creativity in writing lyrics. One of the last times I saw him he greeted me at Solna Centrum about a year ago and he introduced me to his fiancé Lillemor and I could tell that he was really in Love and I was very happy for him, he deserved some happiness and I was most touched that he found it. The time after that he surprised me while I was on the ´Blue Line subway and he told me about being on Dancing With the Stars, that's the last time that I saw him. Once he invited me as his guest to see him when he starred in the classic play Charlie's Aunt at a theatre near Odenplan and he was sensational (Pernilla Wahlgren was in the production too and she was wonderful as well). Uffe made a profound impression on me and I will miss him. I beieve that in the tradition of Nils Poppe, Thor Moden and yes even Harpo Marx that he was one of the greats of Swedish Comedy and Comedy at Large. And He had the genius of making more of less, his commercial for Fazer Blå shown in movies theatres is one of the funniest moments ever projected on a Swedish screen. He was an excellent interviewer. Once he showed me one of his favourite TV interviews from Söndagsöppet - it was with John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater Revival, his face was all aglow when he showed it to me. He was a good man who loved Life, People and Animals and I know that he touched many and will be missed by many. My life was enriched by knowing him and for that I am most thankful.
