Always on my mind

I used to be a Flapper girl
just heading out into the night.
Careless of everything.
dancing over the square.

Funny and dancing.
But then I met you, at the bar
I was alone. You said:
- poor me, poor me, pour me another drink.

You were the poison in my wine.
A car crash in my heart.
From that moment and forever
you, were always on my mind.

I used to be a Flapper girl.
I wanted to dance all night
Be easy and lovely.
Thinking only of fun, fun, fun.

My shoes, clicking like crazy.
Flying over the marmor floor.
Me, all dizzy and laughing
waking up the neighborhood.

You were the poison in my wine.
A car crash in my heart.
From that moment and forever
you, were always on my mind.

We used to visit small places
with hidden, secret doors.
Places called Speak easy bars.
That's where I found you, my love.

My dreams of being a Flapper girl
were meant to keep me safe.
But then the war came and it took you
and all my sinful dreams away.

Everything that was us disappeared into a haze.
But I can still be your Flapper girl, if you want.
I will just click my shoes, close my eyes
and dream of that first night we met in the bar.

You were the poison in my wine.
A car crash in my heart.
From that moment I met you and forever.
You will always be on my mind.
