On solid ground

The Berlin wall fell as it did not stand
on solid ground.
It was built on a system not meant
for minds unbound.
Today, the trees of the Berlin boulevards
sing a timeless song:
"Ode an die Freude"
it was written for all and everyone.

"Ode an die Freude", is a poem written
by Friedrich Schiller in 1785.
In 1824, Ludwig van Beethoven used
part of the lyrics in the last movement
of his ninth symphony. Today, that
part of the symphony is the anthem
of the European Union.

Här fastnar jag genast för det obundna naturliga språket och texten har en självklarhet som övertygar. På ett avväpnande sätt förmedlar den övergången från öst till väst, och den ändå förlösande effekt som murens rivande medförde. Dessutom fint att få lite extra kunskap om musik/poesi fusionen.
