the man's word is law, the woman's word is an emergency ordinance that changes the law

Sonnet on Equality.

In spheres where man's decree was once the law, Undisputed edicts, firm as ancient stone, Man's voice, ringing without flaw, A sovereign rule, his words would stand alone.

Yet whispers grew to challenge this ancient rite, A woman's word, like the winds of change, arose, An urgent plea for justice and light, Her edict strong, a force none oppose.

No longer silent, her decree unfolds, An emergency act that bends the stiff lines, Her wisdom weaves, it twists and turns, In every layer her subtle influence shines.

For the word of the man may be law, so stern and severe, but the word of the woman conforms, transforms, and saves.
