”En valsmelodi” (från hans samling ”En döddansares visor” 1930, tonsatt av Lille Bror Söderlundh) i min översättning/tolkning. Så bästa sätt att läsa den, är att sjunga den.
Love kind of waltz
daylight has gone
darkness is on
catfights and stars that are listening
vagrants and bums
riffraff and scum
sharing their dream in the prison
children are sleeping so peaceful at night
like guardian angels are watching outside
and I’m writing, at least I’m beginning
a love kind of waltz in my head
’cause my legs are you know rather skinny
and so are my arms and my neck
I’ve made many poems and songs in my time
with lyrics whatever as long as they rhyme
’cause my legs are you know rather skinny
and so are my arms and my neck
daylight has gone
shadows are long
starshine from Garden of Eden
then in my teens
I read Nils Ferlin
wonderful poet of Sweden
hoping to get his forgiveness or bliss
for attempting a humble translation like this
I’m writing, at least I’m beginning
a love kind of waltz in my head
’cause my legs are like his rather skinny
and so are my arms and my neck
