I'm gazing out through the spacecraft's cupola.
Floating high above all we have ever known.
:
The Earth unfolds beneath me, boundless, silent, endlessly beautiful.
Oceans melting into continents, clouds drifting over lands with no name.
No borders in sight.
No flags.
No conflicts.
:
Everything looks so peaceful from here.
So still.
So sacred.
:
I watch the Earth from this spacecraft, like a being in an aquarium.
:
A sense of awe fills the space between us.
I am witnessing something greater than cosmos.
:
A reminder of our shared home.
So meaningful.
So reverent.
:
But the thought gnaws at me.
:
Why don't we see it when we're down there ?
Why do we let our longing curdle into prejudice?
Why does that prejudice curdle into a threat?
:
From space we see one world.
One humanity.
But down on the ground, we draw lines, build walls, and create enemies.
:
From here, it's so clear.
We belong together.
We are already one.
:
Drifting in sorrow and disappointment.
:
From here it's so clear.
We belong together.
We are already one.
