I am sailing upon the waves of the sea in placidity,
there is so much to behold and to contemplate
I am travelling by an accommodation train quite ordinary,
so silently and so carefully advancing in it's slow pace

Dear friend, why the rush and the honking of the horn?
One is essential and life is short, indeed

Jag seglar i stiltje på havets våg,
det finnes så mycket att betrakta
Jag reser med vanligt personligt tåg,
det skrider fram så varligt och så sakta

Ja, låt oss ta't lite lagom fort!
Käre vän, vad rusar och tutar du för?
Ett är nödvändigt och livet är kort
och snarligt och plötsligt du dör
