This is a republication of a poem I published here on Poeter.se the 25 of February, 2013. It´s about a pregnant woman´s reflections on the child she is to give birth to. I have made a few changes in this version.

The Butterfly; a sonnet

So infinitely near you are my love
a cocoon, spun by a breath from the sun
a nest for my playful whispering dove
harbour and home for a grain on the run.

Now please pardon me my impudent prayer
but when the time has come for us to meet
could I draw the curtain with all its layers
hug and kiss beyond all masks of conceit?

Though I might not stand the pain you will give
your gentle command soon cause´ me to beam
loves labour toils a miracle to live
unique, yet commonly sublime, and real

Like a seal you breath by my feeding breast
love´s the seal that my butterfly will crest.
