The finish line

It started so long ago
This life long race
Of mine
Now I slowly slow my pace
As I approach the finish line

I’ve been running for an eternity
My focus mostly clear
Obstecles hasn’t hindered me
But now what I feel is fear

I should be jumping of joy
As the goal flags wave my greet
But what will be on the other side?
What is there to meet?

Will I finish first or last?
Please tell me, will I lose?
Please tell me what my prize will be
Please tell me which path to choose

Are the athletes ever scared of their finish line?
The president of the other side of the win?
The climber of the top of Everest
The lonely of finding their kin?

My life has caught up with me
The future is now here
And I stand here confused
Everything feels so unclear
