(i guess i’m going thataway, just as long as it’s paved)
Blanket Town
she’s been to many funerals
she knows how to behave
she’s spent her life with good boys
but she never could be brave
her best years are receding
pulling further away
she’s booked herself a room
the next town over, just for the day
she knows just what she’s looking for
a man to help her drown
they’re all old enough to be her dad
out there in Blanket Town
he’s way over the hairline
been that way since christmas last
but he’s still under the limit
in case the curfew is passed
he hasn’t had a cigarette
since back before the draft
this place is way too noisy
& the drinks are understaffed
he’s going out to buy a pack
then he’ll die without a frown
the only place to get them now
is here in Blanket Town
me, i’m not done hoping
but i’m breaststrokes away
some men are made of stronger stuff
i guess i’m made of clay
if drinking doesn’t kill me
then i guess nothing can
now i can’t find the light switch
& the barman’s being banned
of all the morons in this place
i think i wear the crown
but competition’s pretty stiff
out here in Blanket Town
