In older psychiatric times lunatics were associated with having a nervous tic.  OWN REALIZATION:  having a tic is derived from lunatic. We say "you go on my nerves" older psychiatric times nerves were associated with mental unwell. Then there is the Feared nervous breakdown. I have had two, real, nervous breakdowns.

Lunar means the Moon. Lunar eclipse (when there is a shadow of the earth on the moon) occurs  0 - 3  times per year.  Pink floyd sing about it "the lunatic is on the grass" off cd "dark side of the moon".  Older psychiatric times and ancient times, believed people's moods were steered by the moon and ocean.
