Today's looked at CD concert //// Phish 23/10/21

Well I'm cheating, I'm writing as the last song is playing.

The crowd, Unfortunately, were not on the notes, for the joke between   Lonely Trip  and  First Tube

Maybe they are thinking about the weather, San Diego is reported to have the best weather conditions around the entire globe...

and the venue on this night  NICU Amphitheatre, Chula Vista, is located near San Diego, in California.

Phish does have more fans on the east coast than the west coast, have also made it to Europe, and are a fun band to see... and nowadays cater to stoners and non-stoners alike one could say.

Here is the set-lists and the song evaluation will come last  :/

Set I

Fluffhead   (17.55)
NICU   (17.00)
Bye Bye Foot   (3.49)
Tube   (15.20)
Slave to the Traffic Light   (9.29)
Llama   (5.20)
Rise / Come Together   (6.36)

Set II

No Men in No Man's Land   (16.41)
Free   (16.30)
Joy   (5.57)
Sand   (7.29)
Piper   (17.55)
Scents and Subtle Sounds   (12.51)

Encore

Lonely Trip   (7.18)
First Tube   (7.52)

The ''boys'', four men, regularly put on 3-hour concerts and I well will add up the minutes above... yeah I think it makes about 3 hours, math a little shaky right now

Open with Fluffhead   (a rather long 17 minutes)   my cd-player won't play it so no review!
The NICU which incidentally coincides with the name of the venue is not played often, and it is the longest version I have seen of it, appropriate for matching the venue, at also 17 minutes
Bye Bye Foot   first time I have heard, a love song by the drummer, pretty good though drummers get the crap for not producing good songs, listenable
Tube   wacky as usual  (it does mention a freeway in Los Angeles)
Slave to the Traffic Light   usually doesn't come in the first set, ok
Llama   interesting version of Llama  (phish summer tour 2019 t-shirt with two llamas was shirt I was wearing when I met j, yeah well that is just... how it is)
Rise / Come Together   a really good song (oh Skatteverket declined my last name change to Anastasio) put together by Trey Anastasio and two other non-band members, this version not too good...

Second set is usually where they hit their stride, or break it down, jam, eller lägger krutet, eller vilket uttryck du vill använda; om du vill använda ett uttryck
No Men in No Man's Land   is pretty boring, like they always play Ghost
Free   for 16 minutes, they usually play 8 - 13 minutes or so, really nice
Joy   seldom played, a happy night for them apparently, welcome
Sand   nice interesting version
Piper  here they just go insane, the beginning is regular, and it stretches a long 17 minutes, then just pure improvisation, I will have to listen to it again
Scents and Subtle Sounds   this was the song out of the concert that stood out the most, mind-flipping, I was actually able to live one moment at a time after I was hearing it

Encore
Lonely trip   standard, and as said the crowd weren't on with the jokes, but they fire in to the last song
First Tube   standard also

And Trey thanks them for having them. :)
