In order to be in time with a connecting flight - life could be stressful and nervous. Especially if the connecting airport is Schiphol and is situated in Amsterdam. Somebody told me that this airport in Amsterdam is one of the smallest airports in the world. And the easiest to manage. It just take a couple of minutes to find your gate.

So I just went away. For new adventures. Off from Sweden and the coming bad weather. Rain. Windy. And only 12-15 degrees Celsius. Isch. I rather meet the warmth. And perhaps a glimpse of the sun as well.

Therefore I flew to the heart of Europe, to Amsterdam. Logically I flew to an airport named Schiphol. So very small, with short distances between the gates. Three I went.

But - I was really surprised. This airport was not small at all. It was huge. It was more than great. It was endlessly. So my trip from chilly Stockholm didn’t end here. It continued. To a shiny spot called Mexico City. This was just a quick stop. Some few minutes to my gate. Then off for Mexico.

Just where my plane from Arlanda/Stockholm landed, I found two men sitting in front of an information-desk. People stopped there. Made a queue. Asking for the directions to their gate, to be able to come to New York, Aruba, Paris and also to Mexico City.

That’s why I found myself in this queue. I asked my very exclusive question: ”Where is the gate to Mexico City, with departure 14.25. I hoped to get a correct answer and so I did: ”First I heard ’gate E 21’. Then came a description of how to get there. Just walk on, straight, after that a little bit to the right and then to the left. Always look for E. And of course number 21.
Unfortunately I was tired. My feet was hurting. So I went to gate C21 instead. Just 4 minutes away.

Now I had met one of the world’s greatest airports. And soon I found out that Mexico City is the greatest city in the world. Without any end. Just continuing. Everywhere.

When I confronted my friend who had said this Schiphol airport is easy to use, comfortable in every way, I heard this: ”Schiphol is built with a unique en ”one-way-terminal-solution" if you compare many other gigantic airports, like Heathrow. So this Schiphol is easy when you look for your gate.

The main thing is to make the right combination, not C21. E21 is much better.
