cry agony and fight
bare troubles brought to be
endless the way - to see
the stars that light the night

and yet had we but known
answers we never knew
could we change eternity?
the fates we thought our due?

in remembrance we sought
to make horrors undone
we search, what have we found?
in freedom, love and trust?

the notes we scribbled down
on parchments old with care
was said to fill our soul
with laughter, song with tears
