still you left me speechless

with all the ease

within shadows
or in lightning bolts
of distrust and scary thoughts
a stray falls down
to mold

our hearts align

we try to understand
the silent withdrawal of men
and a final movement
written
in a diligent hand

the bent down necks
of bodies bereft of pride
and the silent slowly walk
of the hearts still torned
in their huddled stride

we ask
"never more"
just to see the light of day
flowing over the green hills
wild with flowers
in early morning May

we turn our heads
and look around
and no were else
in all the universe
life or love
was ever found to see

in such vast
and unforgettable
dignity
