they push you to the edge

and command you to adjust

it's non optional, of course

something that you simply must

a pushed around push over

is their idea of fun

but i' m not up for that so

i' m always on the run

i run till i'm run down

and then i must return

'cause i don't have a lot

of midnight oil to burn

it's worn till it's worn out

and then it's thrown away

i know that peace and love

are never here to stay
