Here in the City
Here in the city
new faces come your way
And they don't give a damn
about you or your name
And that's how it's gonna stay
even if you pass them every day
Isn't that pretty?
Up in the attic
I lived for quite a while
above a carping couple
that wanted every dime
When I headed north
my friend held on to his own dorm next door
up in the attic
You talk of the future
and nothing is for sure
We're gonna move to a place
and live better than before
We can have a room for ourselves
We'll be needing nothing else
but a bright future
For too many summers
I've worked in an industry
These days I want to change
a thing or two with me
I would take back all that time
and spend it with the girls that I've liked
the past six summers
Where in the city
can people find a date?
They take the easy way:
Swipe to the right 'n then wait
"Do you see that girl in blue?
We didn't match
now I feel like a fool
She's so pretty"
Here in the city
I sometimes feel at home
And when I think of it
I want to stay unknown
How is fame worthwhile
when people are snapping
left and right
from every city?
