The vending machine will distribute fresh fruit, chocolate bars, sandwiches, personal hygiene items and stockings. Over a hundred homeless people will be able to benefit from three products a day free of charge. For this purpose, every homeless person will receive special cards.
The project was initiated by the Action Hunger Organization. According to the plan, a pilot project will be launched in Nottingham, after which the network of appliances will be expanded throughout the country.
"We chose Nottingham because I grew up in this town and I love it, but we plan to set up a vending machine in Manchester in January, then in London and Birmingham," the president of the organisation, Hudaifah Khaled, announced.
The vending machine will be installed at the entrance to the Broadmarsh shopping centre and will be available 24/7. Locals welcomed the emergence of such a device, considering that "it is a very good idea".
