A man of rain and wind

It was on the outskirts of a dying town
Spilled wine on her skirt, we were lying down
Together in the summer grass
My machinery was of rusty brass
My organs cold as a body frozen in the ice
Stillborn but old as she looked me in the eyes
Im curious about what she saw that day
In my confused green eyes, could she sense my decay?

A man condemned to always wander
Will stay alone but today I wonder
That day when she glimpsed into my soul
Did she get the feeling that I wasn't whole?
Could she see my darkness?
Could she feel I'm far less
Than what I'm supposed to be?
That no one will ever be as close to me
As my sadness is
And how I've always felt like this?

And when I kissed her on the grass bed there
I wonder, could she taste my fear
Of staying with her forever
My pain is not to share together
And even though I loved her back then
I made sure I'd be lonely again
