You see, it's mostly a different perspective we keep looking for
just some way to take the edge off this sadness we've come across
the little one, the slight bitterness to the otherwise faithful grace
of all these shards of loss carried beyond recall

it is to me a gentle day and an even gentler dream
when the only thing I have to worry over is this distant rain
coming in on a wind long since gone astray

Yes, even when the hardest thing has been found
and even after the damage has been done

Let me find a little space to breathe, nothing much else
some wayward space to stand for a while

I guess that if only for the day
most of us can work out a way to get by
