Om tröst och upprättelse.

Balm

For all who persist when they run out of time
For those who forgot what they seek
For one whose existence is staying alive
and one who remains incomplete
While efforts you managed again and again
May indeed have appeared as in vain
Beginnings and ends and purposes blur
but balm remains in the world

To those who hide their anguish though sigh
they never had wishes come true
To you who left the table to cry
Does anybody care about you?
To all who feel alone in a crowd
Every shadow stalking about
Your losses are hidden, your brows they are curled
But balm remains in the world

The student must fight though the master is dead
With faith in his words and his ways
The final scroll is unsealed to be read
"Woe to the vanquished," it says
The truth of the world will make you blind
So ignore it and make up your mind
Pace through the fields as if undeterred
and balm shall remain in the world

But ask, does it matter, at all in the end
If you struggled or drifted or kneeled?
It seems that my answer will always depend
On the truth that the moment reveals
In spite of this I must believe
these times shall see me redeemed
At crossroads where the lights are dim
Yes, I shall be redeemed.
