The illusion of free will

I am,
I am.

In the depths of free will
we rule our thoughts still,
or so we thought,
but it was nought.

In the depths of free will
some are honed to kill,
others to fall ill
or work for the bill.

Free passage cannot be bought,
so the people fretted and brought;
All the wise men to ponder
but they all grew in wonder.

They saw the moment for what it is,
it was pure and utter bliss.
Like Jesus they attempted to explain,
but it was all in great vain.

For the people were all in despair,
for no one heeded their false prayer;
"A just life is all I need;
To be happy and freed."

They could not put away their sorrow,
and they lived only for the morrow.
But the secret was now,
just proceed and bow.

For the great essence is ever gracious,
open your heart and feel its spacious
palace of bright light
with no fear in sight.
For those God would smite,
or pursue with blight.

In the depths of free will,
we learn to stand still,
or move in groove.

To learn to appreciate the presence.
To learn to live in its eternal essence.
That is God.

This is God;
No mysterious image of a being
inhabiting our mind’s souls,
but an awakening breaking
our molds.

The swaying of trees,
the buzzing of bees.

The bird's song,
the shore's long.

The sun's eye,
the night's sky.

All there is for the eyes to see
equals me.
