Another one of those things just walked by, swagging along without a care in the world!
Just like the last one, a little while ago!

Humph!

They seem to think that they're the ones running this whole show!
Just look at the way they walk; So proud and braggy, as if they're never ending!

They come and hang around for a while (sometimes it feels like forEVER) and then they just up and go without a nod goodbye or anything!

And you better be dead sure that, straight away, there's another one following right behind it!

Arrogant pricks!

They're so self-centered too! They never look back to see if the next one is doing ok, or is struggling to keep up the pace, they're just too focused on their own stubborn path forward!

And, we can't catch them or slow them down either! I've tried dozens and dozens of times to just grab one and hold on to it tight so that it'd stay still, just for once! I mean come on! But my hands just seem to pass right through them :-/

Makes you wonder sometimes why they keep doing it. You know.. One, after the other, after the other, after the other. It's enough to wear you out just thinking about it!

You know what's even funnier?

We all sit around and compare ourselves with them, day in and day out! I mean like All The Time!

*We always keep track of how many that've passed by...
*We're always looking for the next one coming around the corner and...
*We're always trying to figure out how many more of them we'll get to see before we die!

All this "keeping track of them" garbage just makes me feel even older, each time I see one!

Makes me wonder why we should even care! But we do! We always do!

Hmmm...

Thinking about it a bit more, did you notice something else about them?

There's something that makes them special sometimes. Sometimes Really special. Did you notice that too?

There's some that've brought with them some happy days and happy times,
There's some that've brought family together, or seen new ones born,
There's some that mark special anniversaries or a rememberable birthday, and
Then there's those that've held some awesome graduations, weddings and parties too!

I suppose, if they didn't come at all, our calendars would only have one of them, the winter would never end and it would always be 1992.

Hmmm...

Thinking about it a bit more (and looking back at all the ones that I've seen come and go), I suppose, all in all, they're pretty ok. They can be really irritating sometimes, but there's enough good in them to make it worth my while to keep track of them.

So, I think I'll just keep watching them coming and going as they please, and maybe smile and nod hello to them as they pass by, for as long as I'm around to keep track of them.
