My side of the darkness

Taking Shapes

He hit her so hard that she could barely breathe. There were no sound coming out from her mouth, neither could you see her move. She was standing still and not moving an inch. The piercing sounds he made blocked all her senses. She couldn’t breathe, see, move or hear. As she stood on the ground she saw her life flash by in just an instant. All the powers that she possessed. She was strong, everybody knew that but her. That’s why Josh stood there waiting for her to react. Just to see a glimpse that she had lost her kindness and good qualities. In a fact all that she was and stands for.

- Come on Bloom! Come on then! Do something; I didn’t go through all these days just to stand here hitting you to the ground without you not doing a thing about it!

She looked into his eyes, seeing right trough him. It was like seeing into Bloom, the very Bloom herself. She knew him better than she knew anybody else. Until this very moment. How could he ever become someone like this? She thought for herself, forgetting that she was weak enough for him to read easily. But she didn’t care, not anymore.

She finally managed to feel her lips when she fell to the ground once again, this time he hit her hard. As she lay down she could see her own reflection on the bloody ground from the pool of water. The pouring rain filling her wounds with water. She wanted to scream as she saw her red eyes looking back at her. “Stand up!” He screamed at her, looking at her fiercely.

- This is not Josh. This is not you talking or acting, what has become of you? Who has changed the path you were fallowing with me? When did you walk off the trail? A weak voice said.
- When..they... He said, struggling to not use mother and fathers names.
- When they decided to give their beloved daughter all the greatness. Your, or should I say our dead father wanted to give away as a gift. He thought you had been blessed with the gift of Luce masters talents, Hah! What nonsense. After all the hard work of persuasions. He still believed you were meant for it. What a waste. And here you are lying on the ground with your face in your own blood. I see no greatness in this he said spitting on the ground right next to me.

His facial expression changed as soon as the memories came back to him and formed a troubled look. His eyes darkening as never before. She knew that their parents had died, that she could remember, but Josh could never have been the reason for that to happen.
She couldn’t possibly believe that. Or could she? Why did he come back with a filthy shirt covered up in mud? It was also colored with a very dark red like color. Just like the night of the thunder and stormy weather? He didn’t talk to her that night.
When she asked him what had happened with his shirt pointing at the red marks on it, he pushed her hand away with such a force making her hand ache afterwards. Their parents never came back from the celebrations either. She knew something was wrong but at least Josh was there to protect her meanwhile people were out looking for their parents.

That’s when it hit her..
As she raised her head trying to look at him she felt a shivering feeling and something burning under her skin. Something hurt her eyes, she couldn’t see anything. There were only light and nothing but it. Was she dead? Just as she thought that her life had come to an end a strong headache reminded her that she was still alive. When she opened her eyes she felt herself floating in the air, not touching the ground at all. As she looked around the strong bluish light seemed to be coming from her.

That’s when both her and Josh’s eyes widened. She looked at him fully shocked, and just as she was about to say something, she felt a strange feeling of being pulled from inside of herself from where he stood. A split second later he stood 2 inches away from her holding her in his arms.

There were no light radiating from her anymore, and she sure wasn’t floating. She felt tired somehow, and her vision wasn’t clear as it was before. It was like a dirty window. It was until her eyes which she couldn’t control anymore that unleashed the tears and made her cry that she saw a clear vision of the big dark "thing" that was standing looking right at her, that was no longer Josh. As she looked the creature in his eyes, that had taken her brother to a darker side. Still recognizing the same shape of Josh’s eyes she found herself asking:

- Why?
And It answered.
- This is what hatred does to you; it turns you into something inhuman.
