”Magical Embrace”
by Teodora Pasca
With a smile, a glance and a touch of your hand
You lead me to the dance floor
Away from the world and the cold land
That’s left outside, behind a shut door
I can feel
My hand held safely by yours
My heart beating in yours
I can feel
My breath with you
My faith in you
Our steps are synchronised
Our bodies magnetised
Our souls so hypnotised
Did you know that
Being in your warm embrace
It’s like floating in a loving space?
Did you know that
I can feel if you’re here or elsewhere
If you’re with me or over there?
I can feel your heart,
Your soul
Your fears
Your tears
Your sadness
Your joy
Your desire for fire
I can feel your longing for deep connection
Giving me your temporary affection
And a strong sense of protection
You're my lover
My brother
My soulmate
My fate
My friend
A godsend
You're the one that wipes away life’s tears
The one that whispers all those “I’m sorry” I never got to hear
Your love heals me of the past
And gives me faith that will forever last
In your arms I feel complete
Sensual, affectionate, compassionate
Something no one can ever delete
When the music fades away
Our eyes meet, in a daze of guilty pleasure
And we leave the floor
With a need for more
Knowing that whatever others may think or say
The truth is
I am always betaken
By the love
The dance
And the magical embrace
…………………………………………………………………………….......................................
This poem is dedicated to all of you wonderful tangueros and tangueras that I have had the pleasure (and pain) to dance with. It has been, and still is, a joyful yet emotional experience, at times quite frustrating and even sad.
Dancing is just like life itself - it brings forth all the colours of the universe in the form of our emotions. It’s a roller coaster with ups and downs, with pure happiness and extreme sadness.
Maybe it’s the difference in our emotions that somehow makes us chase the next embrace, wondering in what way it will be different or it will make us feel; whether it will, once again make us believe and trust in the fact that deep down people are loving, and that we are loved, even if it’s for a single moment by a total stranger, by a close friend or a lover.
In that particular moment we are connected, we are loving and loved and that's allt that matters - that's all that matters in life.
