Haram 2

A bright morning

Raging waves rolled the corpse of
Fatima´s haram lover back and forth
the stormy sea
flooded the streets
flooded the houses
the water rose and rose
without indulgence

The water reached her front door
flowed over the staircase
into her bedroom
drowned her bed
and woke her from her nightmare
with cold water fingers

Bathing in sweat
crystallized in horror
she still heard an echo
from her nightmare:
haram, haram, haram

One scene she remembered:
a dagger in her father´s fist
tears in her mother´s eyes
fear in her little sister´s face

Dazed she climbed up
and opened the window
the morning was bright and sunny
her look fell down into an abyss
continued to fall
through the universe

She breathed the sweetness of the morning
enjoyed the fresh beginning of a new day
still dazed by the nightmare
she jumped out
into the sunlight
out of her lonely life

Into the embracing force of earth
at last freed from her niqab
freed from being sacrificed
on the altar of family honour

With a sigh Mother Earth welcomed her arrival
spreading a hard blanket under her limbs
Fatima´s soul raised and strode
through a gap in the wall
between life and death
and closed it
behind
her
