Blood and treasure
is often the measure
of how I've lived my life
Buccaneer ships filled with silver and rubies
shoulder bags stuffed with regal lace
emeralds as big as you imagine
diamonds blushing
and then an
invitation to the Rockies
comes which
may just present a
lively evening hobby
a student by day learning
how to bring verse to life
express anger and mildness
bring words to fruition stringing letters
aware of the magic that permeates the air
or is that incense
all together there is an impact on bodies and souls
even to world's end
two hours a day for one hundred
days before the great men who
may wash away the slate or you learn to watch and be aware of the prejudices and
pre-notions that I abide with
or so I hope
That's how it was pitched to me
Then out into Boulder town in the Colorado evening for some
poetry jammin' poetry slammin'
ganga laced
got to get that adrenaline flowin'
think quick or not think at all
go to the source and let the words take wing
and fly a pretty path or crash and burn
but it's also a night to soar to interact with
the crowd - surf their emotions and respond
Eye contact has you livin' on the edge
where you can't be a schmuck Izzy assures - I just don't want to
break that promise. Unless you are a prankster, that's another trip
there are things to be learned for sure
Peter says tomorrow is another day and we
