En talking blues som utgår från ett gammalt citat: \"Do you know how to recognise a country song? Play it backwards and you\'ll get you wife, your job and your dog back\"

Talking Country Blues

Now my baby up and left me over breakfast today
She said something \'bout my talent and drinking it away
I tried to explain \'bout the artist in pain
And how creativity comes in a bottle
I said I\'m tryin\' to write the next Billy Austin
So I\'ve really gotta go full throttle
I said my religion is white trash and Townes is my preacher
And ain\'t it the goal and the rule of our demise
For the student to outgrow the teacher?
Well, needless to say she was less than impressed
Buy my atempts at sober conversation
I guess my breakfast of Moonshine and Jack on the rocks
Didn\'t really help the situation
Well away she went, said \"I\'m taking the kids
You sad excuse for a man\"
And she left me in shatters with my whiskey and coke
And my sad excuse for a plan
I said man
That\'s country

So here\'s to Hank and Townes and Guy
Johnny Cash and Joe Ely
Steve Earle and EmmyLou
Guess there\'s room for Waylon too
A toast to those who\'ve gone to soon
And a song for the survivors
For Kris and Lyle and Jerry Jeff
Dolly, Larry Jon and Todd Snider
Thank you for them sing alongs
Proud and strong
Country songs

Well I stumbled of for work, I was already late
And I guess I was looking the part
Of a man with a dream at a dead-end job
And a freshly broken heart
The foreman at the site were I was paying my dues
Was naturally waiting for me
To scream and to shout about something gone wrong
And \'bout responsibility
I made use of my hammer and now I\'m goin\' to jail
But I guess there\'s a silver linin\'
That old foreman John ain\'t lookin\' to hot
And he\'ll have some trouble smilin\'
His teeth are spread all over the site
And his\' yellin days are over
And I guess in about ten years time I\'ll be free from my job
Livin\' the life of a rover
Guess I\'m gonna need a new hammer though
I said man
That\'s country

So here\'s to Hank and Townes and Guy
Johnny Cash and Joe Ely
Steve Earle and EmmyLou
Guess there\'s room for Waylon too
A toast to those who\'ve gone to soon
And a song for the survivors
For Kris and Lyle and Jerry Jeff
Dolly, Larry Jon and Todd Snider
Thank you for them sing alongs
Proud and strong
Country songs

Well now Smith & Wesson were my two cocker spaniels
I loved them fair better than wine
The most loyal creatures you ever will find
They were the one ray of sunshine in this life of mine
They were the meanest little puppies for miles around
Trained to to bark and bite and attack
I still remember the wonderful sound
Of their jaws going smack
Chasing some uninvited vistors of my land
With rabid determination
So when I went to jail we found ourselves
In a nasty situation
The cops dropped buy that old house of mine
Looking for proof of my violence
And out came Smith and out came Wesson
Their barks breaking the silence
I\'m told they made some damage before they went down
And that makes me awfully proud
So come on my friends and shout it out loud
Man
That\'s country
