I can feel my heart pull away,
hiding behind the ribs in despair.
Can't say I blame it, its been caused
a great deal of pain and sorrow.
But its absence is leaving a hollow
ache in my chest and I'm losing a
battle I have no one to blame but
myself for. I have let people use it
for their greater good, I have sold
it out for the benefit of no one.
I have lied to it, cheated on it and
asked for forgiveness countless times.
I can feel my heart pull away,
in an attempt to protect what is left,
and today I let it.
