Engelska, minnen som får honom att le och titta uppåt och ofta skratta till

Bill's fourth interview

"When I was a kid, we used to climb those radio masts out at The Rapids.
You know those tall, grey- well they weren't radio towers, no...what was?...-oh yeah, bird cages. They were birdcages. Anyway, we used to climb those things, the ones out at The Rapids. Really high- and, you know they seemed even higher then, 'cause we were like 12, or maybe 13 years old- they just sort of stood there. And we had to climb them, that was just, how it was in a way. I wasn't really ever afraid of falling or something like that, but I had this friend- his name, I forget, Joe I think, something like that-he was so afraid, you know. We used to make fun of him 'cause he was so afraid. But I remember he wasn't afraid of falling and breaking his spine, like I was- terrified of breaking my spine I was. No, this kid- I think his name was Joe- he was afraid of the birds. He used to say that the birds were gonna trap him inside their cages and never let him out. He was a real nutter, that Jim. I loved him. And so we made him climb it anyway- out at The Rapids is where we used to climb- and he cried like a baby. It was hilarious. You know, at the time. I guess if I met Joe today- witch I don't think I will, I think he died or something- but if I met Joe today I'd tell him I'm sorry we made him climb that tower. I'd tell him I'm sorry we made him see that the birds weren't gonna trap him. I'd tell him I'm sorry we stole the birds from him"
