Destroy yourself
Sometimes what you need is to destroy yourself.
Because you’ve built yourself with pieces that weren’t yours. You’ve built yourself to fit someone else, someone who disappeared and left you gasping for air in the middle of the night because the emptiness in your body is causing your heart to ache so bad and you can’t even seem to remember that there’s light beyond the darkness.
Sometimes what you need is to destroy yourself.
Because the thought of his lingering fingers reminds you that there’s not a single part of your body that didn’t once belong to him. Because the thought of someone else ever touching that very same skin makes you sick to the bone and you can’t even seem to remember that there once was a time when he hadn’t yet loved you.
Sometimes what you need is to destroy yourself.
Because the words he told you is still carved into your mind and it’s constantly making you wonder how it was so easy for him to lie. How it was so easy for him to break you, to walk away with no intentions of ever caring for you again and you can’t even seem to remember that’s not what love is ever supposed to be like.
Sometimes what you need, my darling, is to destroy yourself. Because even if it hurts that’s the only way you can rebuild yourself into something new. Something better.
And then one day you will love again.
