My wildwife's daughter
bears twin boys
at 3.05 AM and 3.19 AM
in the pastoral depths of June
and I look the Universe in the face
and weep

I hear the news report on the radio
about a 14-year-old boy
who's gunned down with three shots
in a drive-by shooting
in Stockholm,
and gets no support afterwards
by any of society's agencies,
though his single mother begs for it,
and I weep

I think of the young Swedish girl
- an approximation of Jeanne d'Arc
and Saint Bridget of Sweden -
who becomes the guardian angel
of the Earth,
and I weep
