Ett försök att visualisera krigets vansinne med en scen från invasionen i Normandie den 6 juni 1944.

D-day

The colonel shouted, “we’re on our way.
This my lads, will be the longest day.
We’re invading France,
It will go like a dance.
Upon the beaches of Normandie
.........….….C’est la vie, c’est la vie”.

The major shouted, “all onboard,
Get ready for operation overlord.
No need for crying,
You should all expect dying
Upon the beaches of Normandie
……...........C’est la vie, c’est la vie”.

The captain shouted, on the sixth of june,
“Get ready to launch operation Neptune.
It’s a beautiful story,
You will all find glory
Upon the beaches of Normandie
………........C’est la vie, c’est la vie”.

The sergeant shouted, “I have been told
The Yankees take Utah, we’re supposed to take Gold.
It might be your grave,
You should all be brave
Upon the beaches of Normandie
………........C’est la vie, c’est la vie”.

The private shouted “Oh dear please God
They promised us glory, here’s nothing but blood.
This campaign is nuts,
I spilled out my guts
Upon the beaches of Normandie
………........C’est la vie, c’est la vie”.

The dead are but silent, no words or no screams.
Their blood is just pouring, like red little streams.
No fear for the dead,
Their bodies are spread
Upon the beaches of Normandie
………........C’est la vie, c’est la vie”.
