Just give ‘em fingers
them bringers of old
where cold wars still linger,
they thrive and repose
remarket their brand
but we must oppose,
take a stand
give our fingers
to hatred and bigotry
yes, we will stick it to
any and all
that want us to fall
to despair,
yes, I dare
all you poets,
dancers and singers
to just give ‘em fingers
them ringers of bells
sounding of fear
and distrust
yes, please watch your ear
lest they enter
the gunslingers’ banter
must go,
that old world
we know,
give it fingers
and don’t let them play
you for fools,
put you in schools
and in benches
to learn how to dig
yourself trenches
of mind, full of fear
that drenches
your love,
and quenches their thirst
for more blood,
just stay clear
of the strife
and the hate,
the weight
that they want
you to carry,
be light
wear that chalice
of peace,
be swift
and be merry,
at ease
above malice,
stay high
like a dove
in the breeze.
