Coyly did I witness
a piece of glorious past
offered up for grabs
but items such as these
are not to be retrieved
not tokens of a future
built to last
but a ruse
from long lost pasts
here, in the raw
they can't exist
the now is much too thin
it's empty, bare like skin
it must persist
