daddy's dead
your daddy is dead
and so are all around us
I can't tell for certain there's someone there to lift our coffins
when we're in a world already so wicked
are trying to reach wrecklessness
and while defeating our dinner with drugs
children still play in our gardens
unaware of death behing curtains
unaware of what will become their burdens
cause even we used to play
before pills and pretensions
even we sat in that swing
your will and redemption
once loaded
still loaded
but with no swing required
for you to reach the sky
you dreamt about flying
and you still need to fly
rejecting any help offered
for you to reach that high
we used to dress out
and we're still pretending
that playing with death
isn't close to lifes ending
your daddy is dead
and so are all around us
let's pretend we're dead
get used to the darkness
and do not know of the knowledge
that it could have been us instead
