The Taking of Eugenia
Each part of her the perfect sight - her hue and eyes and hair
Eugenia’s strength and inner light shone through and made them fair
Of wicked spite for western man the Devil forged a plot
and conjured up temptations tan to fill Eugenia’s slot
But being sound of eye and heart our fathers this rejected
and never would the lovers part lest Satan interjected
Inspired by how Pluto laid his hands on Proserpina
The Devil bore from us away our once beloved Eugenia
Before too long our race forgot what once had made us bright
We gladly took what hue we got and lost our will to fight
Through this unholiest crime and con was born the demon Mongrel
both Devil-bride’s and fair man’s son whom none now dare but fondle
The demons number more and more and soon we shall be one
What strength and light we had before will then for good have gone
The few of us who know this tale - though charged with schizophrenia
must not permit our kind to fail - we must return Eugenia!
