I published this text here on Poeter.se first time the 20th of November, 2014. I republish it as today marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.

On solid ground.

The Berlin wall fell, as it did not stand
on solid ground
it was built on a system
not meant for minds unbound.

Today, the trees of the Berlin boulevards
sing a timeless song:
"Ode an dieFreude"
it was written for all and everyone.

------------------------

"Ode an die Freude" is a poem written
by Friedrich Schiller in 1785. In 1824,
Ludwig van Beetoven used a part of the
lyrics in the last movement of his ninth
symphony. Today, that part of the
symphony is the Anthem of the European Union.

"Ode an die Freude": sång till glädjen.
