Bruce, Clearence, South Side Johnny, Barbara and a driving license.

You drive ´cause you´ve got the license. We use to laugh about it when we fly over the great bridge gently touching down among Stockholm´s bright lights caressing her streets so she won´t deny us a parking lot close to where South Side Johnny and the Asbury Dukes played this summer ´cause I saw the poster in the sub and they played at Drew and they played so good and the crowd said "Bruce might come any minute to join the party ´cause they are buddies, he and Johnny" and when I was home in spring-81 working day and night to make money for my fees my sister and I went to see Springsteen and The E-street Band at Hovet and they knocked us out but they never counted to ten and in the end we raised each others hands declaring it a victory for all times. That´s when Clarence, the great man, grabbed the saxophone one more time and took us to high´s unimaginable.

You park the car and before we step out I give you a kiss and say "Tonight the bills on me" and you smile as we start to walk through the gentle summer-breeze and it comes to me, as it always does, that we might in a sense, always be looking for a land of hopes and dreams but hey baby tonight we´ve just come here to have some laid-back and cozy fun and we walk back and forth on the south side ´cause you can´t decide where to eat and while you read all the menu´s I look at all the people at the tables in the streets and it strikes me, as it always does, how come they are still around just sitting here taking freely and having fun? I mean all these hundreds of restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars so gently mingled and mixed with all these curious, wonderful and mysterious little shops; how come there´s not right here on the spot a gigantic mall and there would still be room for a fairly spacious parking-lot.

At the table then you sip from a glass of water while I feel so embarrassed with a beer between my hands but you smile and say that it´s okey ´cause to night we are here to dine and drink and then rush for that movie and then we drive home to spend the night playing around until the morning is all abound so I take a sip and look out the window and there´s Bruce and South Side Johnny walking into that little record-shop; I swear it was, I saw it with my own eyes.

On our way to the car in the star-spangled night I walk at your side on Fjällgatan and close to that little café we stop for a while to look at a city so bright. Then I hear some well-known voices and I look to the side and there´s Bruce, Clarence and Johnny and I hear Bruce say: This, this is also promised land. And Clearence and Johnny says: Yeah, it is, it really is. I swear, I saw and heard it one of those days that my beloved friend and I drove over the high bridge into Stockholm´s bright light´s just for some laid-back and cozy fun.

Bruce is the Boss. And Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes are pretty groov. So happy that you had this experience - what a wonderful memorable
night. I saw Bruce a couple of times in the States in the 70's and Johnny
too. At Johnny's show at the Roxy in LA the same kind of rumour went around
maybe Bruce will show up for the gig. Remember the words to Thunder Road
and Born to Run they lead to many places.
