I wonder if a man with no memory at all truly can be either happy or sad. Maybe he is just in a state of mind all of the time. Every second of his thinking and movement feels the same.

I like to think when he enters a room and feels like he has just been born, he would look at the world around him and see some wonderful colours through the window and feel the rug touches his toes like if he himself were on the beach, or a soft wind on his cheek as an experience like no other man.

If so, could you say that he is alive? I mean he always lives in the present but have no thinking forward or backwards. Or maybe he's not thinking at all and have no perception of time.
