MOTHER

Ten years since you passed away
In the most beautiful of summer days
you left the land of living.
We were not there to embrace your body
when you fell to the floor.
We were not there to say goodbye or thank you.
We were too busy to care.
One came from Turkey, the other from Rhodes
and the third from a conference in Oslo
to see you lying in the coffin.
But your grandchildren made their best
to come to the hospital to feel your pain
and hear the last heavy breathings
of a beloved grandmother.
