Basement light in the middle of a gray walls road
Another scratch on the wall, another anger to reload
Someone walks out to the microphone and clears his throat
People below the stage wants him to show his chest, take off his coat
What if he doesn’t want to yet
He sings and you see his soul is in pain but he sings his forehead wet
I hate peoples grief, he says between two songs
I hate that I don’t have any chance to say she belongs
Please stay the whole night, and listen to promises we lay
Citylights are out and so we say
He takes a step back for every song
He doesn’t know how to dance so he just moves along
The words heal us in the way he sings out to the crowd
People just don’t care if the music is “too loud”
Without fear he throws himself down on the mass of people below
He lets the people touch him, he lets the movement flow
He gets up in time for the song ending in a while
He turns his face to the crowd and gives the most real smile
I love you all he says to them now
I hope I’ve eased your pain, he says with a bow
I thank you all from the bottom of my beating heart
I promise you all if it’s painfull all the time, someone will give you a new start
He gets offstage and everybody sees him walk out of there
He was a painkiller for some. Someway he took away the fear
