The Joy Of Kildare

Once upon a time there was a little girl,
she was the princess of every man’s heart
They watched over her like a treasure,
for she was the joy in every man’s life.

The women used to lay beside her at night,
they bathed her in the early mornings
and they brushed her golden hair at sunrise
They watched over her like a jewel,
for she was the joy of every woman’s heart.

Once upon a time there was a little girl,
she loved to walk the hills of Kildare,
she was the melody in every bird's song,
the essence of life deep inside the woods.

The younger children used to follow her,
they surrounded her with love and affection
and they brought her flowers from the hills,
for she was the joy of every child’s heart.

Once upon a time there was a little girl,
she drowned in the lakes of Kildare
when she was only ten,
she fell asleep in the black waters,
for she was the life in every dead man’s heart.
