in my left hand

i embrace the fullest air
lingering in my palm
knotting my fingers
making no promises
but to day

i lift me
a reminder
put it next to my heart

my breath is short
as the seconds long
a voom leaves room
for acceptance:

i can not measure air
by my lungs

as i can not decide
where abouts
to belong

left me the right to do wrong
and then by regret to do right again

left us
our weakness
to make us strong

a family
unfamiliar to all
but to eternal wisdom


this makes
the hunger for knowledge less of an excess

it makes burdens
easier to process

and pain easier to
allow to pass

by
my door

it’s right after before
and barely night

i see me
a reminder
in the darkness

as an immense certainty
of light
