Song/spoken word/slam/poem - about how we sometimes try to cover up the true feelings with food - and other things - to avoid the pain.
Comfortably discomfort
We comfort eat
this moments heartbeat
this moments treat
So sweet
But our heart cries out
in discomfort - not in joy
All the things we have to face
and all the empty faces we see
eating to forget - not to stay alive
Inside - behind - deep down
somewhere I know
The child is still alive and breathing
the rhythm of life - the song - the dance
Deep down - inside - somewhere
the seed of the childlike enthusiasm lies
Then came adulthood
- sometimes hard to tackle
For some harder - darker - lonelier
Behind closed doors the party goes on
while some standing outside - looking in
Wishing upon
- the moon
a dark night - that they too - could be a part of the party
The music goes on - the world goes on - keeps turning
spinning - and outside stands a flower waiting to bloom
We comfort eat - the illusion is a treat - the reality is a heavy heartbeat
some sort of sadness - for not quite knowing how, how to deal with life - sometimes the idea of just going with the flow - seems so hard - like the biggest task ever
Like a child in front of the biggest brick wall - with an adults mind - feeling small - afraid to think new thoughts - because although the old ones does no good - the new thoughts are so frightening - the light so bright - it makes the eyes hurt
We comfort eat - while our soul starve - the flowers were meant to bloom - and so are we
Taking that step into the world - felt so much easier when your parents stood beside you and held your hand
All of a sudden - you grew up - and it was time to take the next step into the world - on your own
- And that can be pretty damn scary
The child is still alive and breathing
the rhythm of life - the song - the dance
We comfort eat
this moments heartbeat
this moments treat
So sweet
oh so sweet
- This moments treat
