If I had you
If I had you
I would sleep in,
put great sunflowers in the window,
lay back and let the world
do whatever it likes
I would fall asleep and dream
and wake up to your presence
you would think that I had put my life on hold,
that I had left everything behind
the truth would be
that I was finally living
I would only do a few things
read the books that tickle me and
that manage to keep me
turning the page
if they didn't I would
put them aside
I would cook food for hours
slowly
touching each ingredient
with my fingertips
I would watch the movies in your bookshelf
starved for the worlds of perfection
they embody
I wouldn't mind the worlds opinions
on what my life ought to be about
I would write poetry and watch the snow
I would drink hot chocolate with marshmallows
and a friend
I would trow snow at her
and sometimes
we would eat vegetarian hamburgers,
drink soda with ice
and discuss this perfectly strange world that we live in
If I had you
words would be
so unnecessary
all this talking we do now
- how inadequate
- how wonderfully sexy!
Just watch the words
"I'm surrounded by idiots"
in a text
and ponder at their power
to shake
all hesitations
If I had you
we would be
surrounded by flowers
