In this moment
Desperate to get away
For the next year perhaps
See a place far away
Gather the stars and make something big
Sing for the king and dance with the lions
Sing for the forest and the birds
Write poetry and songs
Paint in colors sublime


In this moment desperate to get away
Sing for kings and dance with lions


Poetry encapsulates my every cell
And I burst out in tears as I write the words down


So much inside wanting to get out
Birdcages are pretty
But keeping a bird locked up is just sad


Finding my place in this world
Somehow I guess I will
The required courage
it takes
The stamina and pulsating body
Gotta keep moving
Gotta keep looking
Searching

Every now and then
It feels like it is getting closer
I am moving closer and closer
To reaching my dreams
Then the anxiety comes
The what if's
The who and where and when's

But then the reminder comes along
whispering - sometimes raising its voice
- There's always a way!

And let my shoulders down a bit
and repeat -
